How to Submit a No Audio Job

What is a No Audio Job?

Occasionally, clients accidentally submit jobs with no audio or no PDF to be typed.  This means there is either no audio at all (when you press play, nothing plays), or there is blank audio (when you press play, the audio begins but there is just dead air with no dictation).  This also means there is no PDF attached to be transcribed.

Jobs will NEVER be submitted as No Audio unless the Help Desk specifically provides permission to do so via a Help Ticket.  You must request to submit the job as No Audio and wait for approval before doing so.

Identifying No Audio/No Fax Jobs

When you first open a job, you will know right away whether it is supposed to be a job with audio or a job with a PDF.

  • PDF:  A pop up will appear stating "There is a PDF on this job".  PDF jobs also will not have a visible audio slider or audio controls.  If you receive a PDF job but the PDF is blank or completely illegible, it would be considered a No Audio job (meaning there's nothing for us to transcribe).

  • Audio:  The job will appear as usual with the audio slider and audio controls at the top.  Try playing the audio to see if audio is present.  If there is only dead air on the audio, be sure to click through to the end to make sure there is truly no audio.  Note that sometimes there are periods of blank space on regular audios, so you must thoroughly check through before determining there is no audio.

How to Submit No Audio Jobs

Submitting a job as No Audio is just a very specific method of rejecting a job back to the client.  This means the job will go back to the client with a note saying we are unable to type it, so it must be handled carefully.

Help Ticket

The first thing you must do is submit a Help Ticket to let the Help Desk know you have received a job with no audio and no PDF.  Submitting a job as No Audio without opening a Help Ticket is an extremely serious error, because it is essentially rejecting a job back to the client without permission.  See more about rejected jobs.

You must wait for the Help Desk to reply to your Help Ticket before continuing to follow the steps below.

The Help Desk will review the job and verify that there is no audio and no PDF.  In some cases, they may tell you that there is, in fact, audio or a PDF, so there is probably a technical issue causing you to have trouble accessing the content.  Follow any steps provided to you by the Help Desk to troubleshoot the issue.

Once you receive confirmation from the Help Desk that the job needs to be submitted as No Audio:

  1. Leave the document blank and proceed to the Job Submission tab.  Click the Submit button.

  2. You will then select No Audio in the status box.

  3. Click Submit This Job Now, and the job will be sent appropriately back to the client.
