Proofreader to Proofreader Comments

Comments to proof are an important part of job submission, and this rings true for PRs as well.  Often, PRs will be passing long partials or GCs to each other.  It is important that the proper comments are left with all of the required information to ensure consistency throughout a job.  Failing to leave appropriate comments (or leaving inappropriate comments) violates your responsibilities as a PR, so please read these guidelines very carefully.

You must include the following information in your PR to PR comments:

  • The exact time in the audio where the next person will begin.
  • The audio stream used (such as Default, High Quality, etc.)
  • If it's a GC, give a brief explanation of the speaker labeling.
  • A list of spellings that were provided by the client/speakers.
  • A list of spellings you provided phonetically.
  • Note any important information to help keep the job consistent (specific capitalization, using superscript with ordinals in dates, etc.)
  • Note any tickets that you opened.

This information must be included in comments to proof on all partials and partial GCs.  If you receive a partial where proper comments are not left, please feel free to email Proofreader.Support@SpeakWrite.com so we can remind the person at fault of the proper guidelines.

Do not include the following:

  • Negative comments about the job or speakers in the job.
  • Personal identifiers, including first/last names, PR number, typist ID, etc.
  • Lengthy comments which are not pertinent.

Examples

Which would you rather work on? Think about the typists and proofreaders that are affected by your comments.  Receiving a job with negative comments about the job only serves to discourage others.  Also, receiving a job without any of the important information makes it much more time consuming for the next person to pick up where you left off.  When leaving comments to proof, think about all of the information you would like to see when you receive a partial.

Quality PR to PR Comment

You will start at 1:30:15 (HQ).

Speaker 1 is asking Speaker 2 about his involvement in a burglary.

My spellings: Kyle, Lancaster, Guadalupe

I opened a ticket to ask about the client's formatting instructions and was told to leave a blank line between speakers.

The audio is hard to hear at times, but HQ helps with that.

Poor PR to PR Comment

Hi, it's Rachael, PR No. 1001.   Left off with Mark.  He sounds totally crazy.

This job is giving me a headache so I just can't do it anymore.

Sorry.
