Proofreader Responsibilities
In order to provide SpeakWrite management with appropriate feedback on typist performance, proofreaders will be required to remain familiar with our guidelines.
SpeakWrite Proofreaders must:
- Validate any rating given by citing the appropriate section of the OLH.
- The way in which a proofreader rates a document inherently affects the typist who created it. Therefore, it is vital for a proofreader to ensure all ratings are rigorously vetted according to OLH standards.
- Maintain all standards set forth by SpeakWrite Management. This includes but is not limited to:
- Scheduling/Attendance
- Quality Standards
- Professional Conduct
- Review the PR Guide regularly.
- Respond to Typist Supervisor and Proofreader Support emails within 72 hours.
- Refrain from making any personal comments to typists while using the rating sheet.
- Any complaints from typists regarding PR comments will be thoroughly investigated.
Proofreaders that fail to meet their responsibilities will have the following consequences:
- First Offense
- Proofreader will receive an official warning from SpeakWrite Management.
- Second Offense
- Proofreader will receive an official notice from SpeakWrite Management and will be returned to typist for 2 weeks.
- Third Offense
- Proofreader will receive an official notice from SpeakWrite Management that they are either permanently returned to typist status or the termination of their contract has occurred, depending on the nature and severity of the previous and present offenses.
Proofreaders will also be held to SpeakWrite's Quality Standards. As you can see on that page, work done by proofreaders is held to an even higher standard. Keep this in mind, and always produce your best quality work.
