How to Retrieve Jobs

To retrieve jobs during your scheduled shifts:

  1. Open TypeEasy.  Enter your email address and password into the Login box.  (Select the Remember Me option for faster login, but only if you are the sole user of your computer or use a password-protected user profile on a shared computer.  See Confidentiality.)

  2. Select the "At Work" button to notify SpeakWrite servers that you are logged in for your scheduled shift and ready to begin receiving live jobs.  Once you select "At Work", the system will search for an available job every 15 seconds.  If no jobs are currently available, a notice will pop up to let you know.

When a shift is over, select "Not At Work" to let SpeakWrite know you are no longer available to accept jobs.

  3. When a job is available, you will receive the following notification and a sound will play to alert you.  Click Accept to accept the job.  You have 60 seconds from the time the notification pops up to accept the job.  If you do not accept, the job will be returned back to the queue to await another available typist.  Failing to accept a job will change your status to Not At Work, so you will need to select At Work again when you are ready to accept a job.

Failure to accept jobs that are assigned to you is a measurable stat that management tracks and considers in typist performance reviews.  See Returned Jobs for more information.

  4. After you've accepted the job, the Job Information screen will open.  You can then review the job information and check whether the job contains audio or a PDF.  Audio jobs will contain the audio slider at the top.  PDF jobs will not, and they will also pop up with a notice that there is a PDF. If there is no audio and no PDF, follow the procedures listed at How to Submit a No Audio Job.

  5. You are ready to begin working.  Review the job information and instructions, and begin working.  TypeEasy will automatically assign the client's requested font into the document, so you will likely not need to make changes unless the client requests them.  But always double check all preferences and instructions before and after completing the job.
