TypeEasy Version 2

We are excited to announce the release of a brand-new version of TypeEasy. This version is entirely self-contained, meaning you do NOT need to own a copy of Word. It also rectifies some of the clunkier aspects of the old program and more seamlessly integrates with the updated Typist Dashboard.

Because this is a new program, we need your feedback! Use the Feedback link on your Typist Dashboard to share your thoughts with us. If you have suggestions for improvement or encounter technical errors in the program, please let us know.

All feedback is welcome and will be reviewed in consideration for additional updates and improvements. You can also email feedback to Typist.Supervisor@speakwrite.com. For faster assistance with technical issues, open a help ticket.

As updates are released, the Update Notes at the bottom of this page will continue to list new features, changes and bug fixes.

FAQs:

TypeEasy V2 eliminates a lot of the requirements the older version had. It can run on any Windows 10 or newer computer. You will no longer need to maintain Internet Explorer or a copy of Word. Instead, the program will run independently and contain everything you need. You will still be able to use your foot pedal and headphones as usual. (Note: Some foot pedals may no longer be compatible. Check out a full list of compatible foot pedals here.)

It’s very similar, but it’s not exactly the same. It looks and functions a lot like what you’re used to, but there are a few minor differences that may take a little getting used to at first. The good news is, this word processor strips out a bunch of unnecessary features, so you won’t have to sift through as many complex settings as in Word. That makes it easier to find everything you need.

A tutorial for using the new word processor can be found here. It goes over some of the common formatting tools you will need, and also points out some of the differences between this program and Microsoft Word.

  • Theme colors – You can change from the Default color scheme to black or gray. Do this under Preferences.

  • Zoom level – If you find that the program appears too small or too large for your screen, try adjusting the zoom settings under Preferences.

Absolutely! TypeEasy V2 has a built-in autocorrect feature to allow you to create and edit your own custom autocorrects.

From the Settings tab in TypeEasy V2, select Auto Correct to view and edit your autocorrects.

In the Auto Correct pop up, you can add new autocorrects and delete existing ones. You can also import your existing library of autocorrects from Microsoft Word. For more about that, see the next FAQ.

NOTE: A default list of standard autocorrects for simple typos will also be pre-loaded into the program (though they won’t appear on this list). That means it will still automatically correct basic mistyped words, such as changing “liek” to “like” or “yuo to you”. You do not need to include these types of things in your custom autocorrect list.

More information about autocorrects can be found here on the Word Processor Tutorial page.

Yes! Due to feedback from our beta testers, we have added this feature to TypeEasy V2 as of version 1.0.21.

There are several steps required to make the proper type of back-up file in Word. If you are interested in importing your autocorrects, please review the following tutorial:
