Pre-Installation Checklist
Technology Requirements
- Windows Based PC
- No MACs or Tablets
- Minimum 1 GB RAM
- Microsoft 2007 or Newer
- Must be a Licensed Version
- Must use downloaded version of Word. A web version is NOT compatible.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer version 8.0 or higher
- Adobe Acrobat Reader version 8.0 or higher
- Windows Media Player version 10, 11, 12
- Sound Card
- Foot Pedal
Hardware Settings have been reviewed and adjusted.
Software Settings have been reviewed and adjusted.
Update your computer if updates are available.

Installing TypeEasy
There are two ways you can download TypeEasy.
- This link: https://secure.speak-write.com/download/typeeasy/typeeasy.msi
- Typist.YouDictate.com
- Log In
- Click Install to the right of the phrase, "Install TypeEasy"
With either method, the following steps are the same.
- TypeEasy setup wizard will open.
- Follow the on screen instructions.
- TypeEasy will automatically install.
If TypeEasy does not install properly and you are a typist, submit a Non-Job Related Help Ticket using Typist.YouDictate.com.
Trainees, you will need to submit a request through your applicant page. See the images below.
Uninstalling TypeEasy
Uninstall from TypeEasy
When uninstalling from TypeEasy use the drop down menu in the top left corner of the screen and click on uninstall. The TypeEasy application wizard will prompt you through the process.
Uninstall from Start Menu
Microsoft 7 and 8 users will do the following:
- Select Start
- Click All Programs
- Find SpeakWrite and Click
- Choose Uninstall TypeEasy
Microsoft 10 users will do the following:
- Select Start
- Click on Settings
- Click on Apps and Features
- Find TypeEasy and Click
- Choose Uninstall
- Verify Uninstall
You may have a window pop up that states, "Program did not install correctly", Click Cancel.
This is a good time to clear your Internet Explorer Cache and Cookies as well as run a program like CCleaner.
Reinstalling TypeEasy
Once you have successfully uninstalled TypeEasy, use the install instructions above to reinstall the application. If you receive an error message upon reinstalling TypeEasy, please do the following before opening a Help Ticket:
- Clear Internet Explorer Cache and Cookies
- Run CCleaner
- Restart your Computer
If you have done the following steps and continue to receive an error message, open a Help Ticket or use the Support tool on the applicant page. You must copy and paste the entire error message into the body of the Help Ticket.
