titleVertical red bar/Track changes accidentally turned on

Track changes is never used in SpeakWrite work, so there isn’t an option for it on the TypeEasy toolbar. However, a certain keyboard command does occasionally turn it on by accident. When this happens, you’ll see a vertical red bar like in the image below. Turn it off by using the shortcut ctrl+shift+E.

Info

Note: If the red bar remains after using that shortcut, you may need to “accept” the previous changes before it’ll go away. Click the red bar to show the changes highlighted in the document. Right click on them to select Accept Change. Once you’ve accepted all changes, the red bar should go away and should not continue to appear. If it does, be sure to hit ctrl+shift+E again before typing any more.

titleDotted line appearing under text/Hidden Text turned on accidentally

If you see a dotted line appearing under your text, you may have accidentally turned on Hidden Text. This feature should never be used in SpeakWrite work for two reasons – 1) it doesn’t show up when Show/Hide is off or when the client tries to print the job, and 2) you won’t be paid for it because it isn’t counted in the word count of the job.

In your document, Hidden Text looks like this:

To turn this off, highlight the hidden text (anything underlined with the dotted line) and use the key combination ctrl+shift+H.

titleAn autocorrect is interfering with my ability to type something properly. How do I undo autocorrects?

Sometimes, the built in autocorrects may conflict with something you want to type. For instance, sometimes words are auto-capitalized when you do not wish them to be. Simply use ctrl+Z to undo the autocorrect and return it to what you originally typed.
